As an international boutique law firm, we are particularly proud of our collegial culture and warm work environment. If you’re a recent graduate or lateral hire, you can expect a steep learning curve and, ultimately, the chance to become a partner. You can also look forward to an excellent salary and a healthy work/life balance.
You will work in your chosen area with a number of partners with various specializations who will help you acquire a broad range of knowledge and develop your own unique style. At GOF, you will be closely involved in client matters right from the start and communicate with clients directly.
On projects in the mid-cap range, you will develop your skills in legal drafting, negotiation and project management. This early involvement gives our lawyers a significant edge over their peers in the big international firms.
We also offer training that is not directly related to our work for clients. The GOF Academy provides legal and commercial expertise in key practice areas (finance, M&A, corporate law) through internal and external presentations and seminars. In the first year, events include an internal, two-day seminar on accounting, balance sheet analysis and company valuation.
Flexible employment conditions
The world of work is becoming increasingly flexible, and that is also true of our firm. Again, our aim is to be one of the most advanced and forward-looking practitioners in commercial law. Depending on your personal circumstances, we can therefore provide alternative working conditions, e.g. part-time employment.
Commercial law is clearly a very challenging profession. Nevertheless, we firmly believe in maintaining a good work/life balance. Wherever possible, this means weekends and holidays are free to spend as you wish. You are also entitled to 30 days’ holiday each year.
Career path with the opportunity to become a partner
Recent graduates and lateral hires have a genuine opportunity to become partners in our firm. Being geared for growth, we regularly appoint partners from within our own staff – as our track record clearly shows. This practice sets us apart from many of our competitors.
When you rise to senior associate after the third year with the firm, we’ll help you build your skills in client development and learn the commercial principles you need to succeed in legal practice.
After seven years with the firm, you will typically be considered for promotion to partner.
