If you want to go straight to the action.

As an international boutique law firm, we are particularly proud of our collegial culture and warm work environment. If you’re a recent graduate or lateral hire, you can expect a steep learning curve and, ultimately, the chance to become a partner. You can also look forward to an excellent salary and a healthy work/life balance.

Train to be an entrepreneurially minded lawyer

Training on the job

You will work in your chosen area with a number of partners with various specializations who will help you acquire a broad range of knowledge and develop your own unique style. At GOF, you will be closely involved in client matters right from the start and communicate with clients directly.

On projects in the mid-cap range, you will develop your skills in legal drafting, negotiation and project management. This early involvement gives our lawyers a significant edge over their peers in the big international firms.

GOF Academy

We also offer training that is not directly related to our work for clients. The GOF Academy provides legal and commercial expertise in key practice areas (finance, M&A, corporate law) through internal and external presentations and seminars. In the first year, events include an internal, two-day seminar on accounting, balance sheet analysis and company valuation.

Flexible employment conditions

The world of work is becoming increasingly flexible, and that is also true of our firm. Again, our aim is to be one of the most advanced and forward-looking practitioners in commercial law. Depending on your personal circumstances, we can therefore provide alternative working conditions, e.g. part-time employment.

Good work/life balance

Commercial law is clearly a very challenging profession. Nevertheless, we firmly believe in maintaining a good work/life balance. Wherever possible, this means weekends and holidays are free to spend as you wish. You are also entitled to 30 days’ holiday each year.

Career path with the opportunity to become a partner

Recent graduates and lateral hires have a genuine opportunity to become partners in our firm. Being geared for growth, we regularly appoint partners from within our own staff – as our track record clearly shows. This practice sets us apart from many of our competitors.

When you rise to senior associate after the third year with the firm, we’ll help you build your skills in client development and learn the commercial principles you need to succeed in legal practice.

After seven years with the firm, you will typically be considered for promotion to partner.

If you’d rather sing in a choir than hog the limelight.

The GOF spirit defines our day-to-day work culture: team performance is always more important than individual results. In our warm and collegial work environment, there is no room for silo attitudes, me-first behaviour, unnecessary formality or destructive internal competition.

What our staff have to say about GOF

Isabelle Vrancken
Former trainee,
now associate

One of the hardest decisions for young lawyers is where to start the career. My experience during my training with GOF made it an easy one for me, a decision I have never regretted.

Matthias Uelner
Former trainee,
now associate

As a trainee I was fully involved and an integral part of a very dynamic team, which gave me a great insight into GOF. This involvement from day one is now also reflected in the pace of my development since joing the firm as a lawyer.

Become part of the GOF story

If you are passionate about a career as a commercial lawyer, working with high-profile clients as part of a team where each individual counts, then we look forward to receiving your application. We expect excellent legal qualifications and  a good team ethic.
