Munich, August 17, 2021 – Gütt Olk Feldhaus advised Penguin Random House Verlagsgruppe GmbH on the acquisition of frechverlag GmbH from WEKA Group GmbH.
Founded in 1955 and headquartered in Stuttgart, frechverlag currently has a workforce of around 80 employees. With its "TOPP" and "BusseSeewald" brands, it is one of the leading publishers in the German-speaking world in the field of creative guidebooks and do-it-yourself. Under the umbrella of the Penguin Random House Verlagsgruppe, the frech programs will continue to develop independently.
With more than 40 publishing houses the Penguin Random House Verlagsgruppe, part of the media group Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA, is the largest German-language general-interest publishing group. GOF had already provided legal advice to Penguin Random House Verlagsgruppe on various acquisitions in the past.
The acquisition is subject to antitrust approval. GOF advised Penguin Random House Verlagsgruppe in all phases of the transaction.
